UPDATED: IUIU Students Guild Launches the 2K Campaign

The IUIU students body through its executive committee of the 2k campaign program that was launched on 22nd March 2023 by the State Minister of Northern  Uganda and Rehabilitation successfully held the 2k outreach in Northern Uganda in Omoro district with a partnership with the office of the Prime Minister.

The activity was initiated with a sign-in at the office of the Prime Minister in Gulu City which later was accompanied by a youth sensitization program in Gulu University with the guild council of Gulu University where the main emphasis was laid on mindset changing of youths towards national development and government programs. This was also accompanied by encouraging youth to be patriotic and have a humanitarian spirit.

The activity was Graced with the tree plant session as a sign of light for the lives lost to the nodding disease in northern Uganda and it was led by the state minister for Northern Uganda and rehabilitation Hon Grace Freedom Kwiyucwiny accompanied by the 2k executive representatives and then the guild council of Gulu University.

Finally, the actual food distribution was done in Omoro nodding disease syndrome centre in Omoro where food distribution was made to 186 homesteads affected by the nodding disease. The food packaging was accompanied by clothes and a few mattresses. 

The activity was commissioned by the state minister for Northern Uganda and rehabilitation  on behalf of the office of the prime minister 

From an interview made with the 2k campaign chairperson SSEKKANGA ELIJAH, the committee intends to establish a club which will be established  in other campuses with its core values targeting 

  1. Humanitarian  activities
  2. Mindset changing towards transformation
  3. Having patriotic youth to enable advanced national development. 

And this is to be done in partnership with the prime minister's office.
