Dr. Cezmi ERVÜZ, a visiting professor from Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University in Turkey, has successfully concluded his three-month sabbatical at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at the Islamic University in Uganda.
During his stay, Dr. Cezmi worked closely with the Department of Social Work and Social Administration, engaging in research on child protection, elderly care, disability, women’s empowerment, and poverty alleviation. He also collaborated with faculty members on joint publications and shared expertise on social protection systems in Turkey.
Speaking about the visit, Mr. Luwemba Musa, Head of the Department of Political Science, commended Dr. Cezmi for his contribution to research and curriculum development. “He has guided us and advised us on how we can strengthen social work and social sciences at IUIU. We look forward to continuing this partnership,” he said.
Dr. Gyagenda AbdulSwamad, Deputy Director for Research, Publications, and Innovation, emphasized the importance of such exchange programs in enriching students’ learning experiences. “Having scholars like Dr. Cezmi share their perspectives helps our learners understand global approaches to child care and social support. This strengthens not only our research culture but also our community engagement,” he noted.
In his remarks, Dr. Cezmi expressed gratitude to both universities for the opportunity and support. “I thank IUIU staff and students for the collaboration and my colleagues at Tokat Gazi Osman Pasha University for making this exchange possible,” he said.
