Proud Moment for the Islamic University in Uganda
The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) is proud to announce that a team from the main campus has qualified for the Final Memorial and Oral Rounds of the 11th Great Lakes Regional Training Programme in International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights, organised by Initiatives for Peace and Human Rights (iPeace).
The regional competition brings together leading law schools from across the Great Lakes Region and will culminate in the Final Memorial and Oral Rounds in Nairobi, Kenya.
Following a rigorous evaluation of applications and preliminary memorials by the Programme's Pedagogical Committee, IUIU's submission was ranked among the strongest submissions received this year, achieving an impressive score in the 77–93% range out of 100, thereby securing the University's place in the final stage of this prestigious competition.
Her Worship Riziki Nambuya is a Lecturer at the Faculty of Law, Islamic University in Uganda, Patron of the IUIU Moot Court Programme, Patron of the International Humanitarian Law Club, and a Judicial Officer committed to mentoring future legal professionals in advocacy, international humanitarian law, and human rights.
Odoi Derrick – Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) student, recognised for his strong legal research, analytical ability, and advocacy skills.
Chemisto Ruth Gloria – Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) student, whose diligence, critical legal analysis, and teamwork have been instrumental to the team's success.
This achievement reflects IUIU's continued commitment to excellence in legal education and practical advocacy. As the team prepares to represent the University and Uganda in Nairobi, Kenya, we congratulate Her Worship Riziki Nambuya, Odoi Derrick, and Chemisto Ruth Gloria on this well-deserved milestone and wish them every success in the Final Memorial and Oral Rounds.
