Islamic University in Uganda Meets with Islamic Solidarity Fund

Prof. Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda, Rector of Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU), met with H.E. Dr. Muhammad Abal Alkhayr, Executive Director of the Islamic Solidarity Fund (ISF) of the OIC, on 22nd June 2025, during the 51st Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers in Istanbul.

The meeting was attended by H.E. Dr. Abdulraziq Muhammad Wrag, Project Manager of ISF, Mr. Mutyaba Abdallah, Senior Administrative Assistant, Office of the Rector, IUIU, AND Other Officers from the Islamic Solidarity Fund. 

The Rector thanked the ISF for its continuous support to the university, highlighting the fund's significant contributions since IUIU's inception, including the purchase of the female campus. The ISF has been a key development partner, providing over $22 million in funding to date. The Rector also discussed ongoing projects and future needs with the ISF leadership.

The Executive Director reaffirmed ISF's commitment to supporting IUIU, expressing interest in funding additional projects, including the state-of-the-art library under construction at the main campus and the nursing block at the female campus, further solidifying the partnership between the two institutions.
