Research, Publication and Innovation

At IUIU, research is a requirement for the fulfilment of degree programs at various academic levels; and it is also a key condition for academic staff promotion. However, these should not be ends in themselves but the practice of research should be an ongoing process and should yield into practical solutions to society’s problems. Strengthening research and innovation culture among staff and students requires proper coordination, monitoring and evaluation. The Directorate of Research, Publications and Innovation is committed to promoting a dynamic research and innovation culture that creates new knowledge across a range of disciplines, and helps improve the economic, social, spiritual, and cultural transformation of our country, region, the Muslim Ummah, and beyond. The Directorate is also committed to guiding researchers in conducting research in line with University, national, regional, and international requirements as highlighted in the University Research Agenda, Uganda Vision 2040, the Third National Development Plan (NDP III), Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), African Union Agenda 2063, and OIC-STI Agenda, among others.
