The Rector of the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU), Prof. Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda, accompanied by the Senior Administrative Officer, Zamzam Ahmed, participated in the 5th Kazan Youth Summit, held in Kazan, Russia, from 27th to 30th August 2026.

The international summit brought together young leaders, students, academics, and representatives from various countries, providing a platform for meaningful dialogue, knowledge exchange, networking, and the exploration of opportunities for international cooperation.
IUIU’s participation in the summit demonstrated the University’s continued commitment to youth empowerment, leadership development, cultural exchange, and global engagement. The event provided an important opportunity for the University to share perspectives, establish new connections, and explore areas of collaboration with higher education institutions and other stakeholders from around the world.

A key outcome of IUIU’s participation was the establishment and strengthening of relationships with several international universities and institutions. These included Kazan Federal University, Bahria University, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Akhmet Yassawi University, and the Moscow Institute of Psychoanalysis, among others.
The engagements opened opportunities for potential cooperation in areas such as academic exchange, research collaboration, student and staff mobility, knowledge sharing, and other mutually beneficial academic initiatives.

Through its participation in international platforms such as the Kazan Youth Summit, IUIU continues to expand its global network and strengthen its internationalisation agenda. These engagements support the University’s efforts to provide its students and staff with greater opportunities for cross-cultural learning, academic collaboration, and participation in global initiatives.
The University remains committed to building strategic partnerships that contribute to academic excellence, innovation, youth development, and stronger cooperation between IUIU and institutions across the world.
