IUIU Hosts Technical Aid Corps Nigeria Delegation to Strengthen Academic Partnership
The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) hosted a delegation from Nigeria's Technical Aid Corps (TAC) at the Main Campus in Mbale on Friday, 26th june 2026.
The delegation was which included Ambassador Saidu Dahiru Muhammad,Director of Administration, TAC, alongside Dr. Fehintola from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and other guests was officially received on behalf of the Rector by the Vice Rector in Charge of Academic Affairs, Dr. Jamil Serwanga. Also present were the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, the Dean of the Faculty of Law Dr Adeyemo Abdlulateef, the Academic Registrar represented by Mr. Abdul Kareem Ndazaano, the University’s Liaison Officer, Mr. Hamid Byamugenzi and other members of staff.
Delivering the Rector’s remarks, Dr. Jamil Serwanga warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed IUIU’s sincere appreciation to the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for its continued support through the Technical Aid Corps programme. He noted that IUIU has previously visited the TAC Headquarters in Nigeria, a move that has strengthened the relationship between the two institutions.
Dr Jamil also observed that the TAC programme has continued to register significant progress at IUIU through the deployment of skilled professionals who have contributed to teaching, research, and institutional development. Dr. Serwanga called for the sustainability of the collaboration, emphasizing the need for continued partnerships even after the current TAC volunteers complete their assignments at the university.
Speaking on behalf of the Academic Registrar, Mr. Abdul Kareem Ndazaano thanked the delegation for visiting IUIU and commended the Technical Aid Corps for its unwavering support to the university. He appealed for an increase in the number of professionals deployed to IUIU, particularly visiting professors, to further enhance academic excellence and research capacity.
The IUIU Technical Aid Corps Team Leader also expressed gratitude to the visiting delegation for undertaking the support mission. He appreciated the university management for the cooperation and hospitality extended to TAC volunteers throughout their stay and thanked the Technical Aid Corps for the opportunity to serve under the programme.
Leading the Nigerian delegation, His Excellency Saidu Dahiru Muhammad thanked IUIU for the warm reception accorded to the team. He reaffirmed the Technical Aid Corps’ commitment to supporting partner institutions and noted that the collaboration with IUIU has continued to strengthen the programme’s impact. He encouraged both institutions to sustain the implementation of existing agreements to deepen academic cooperation and achieve mutual development goals.
